Phildar mock turtleneck knitted dress/tunic

 This is another one of my knitting projects that I documented as needing to be put together so that I could finally enjoy wearing it. This dress/tunic from Phildar No 009-T8-251 that I fell in love with in this issue.

 I intended to wear this as a dress, but somehow I miscalculated/didn't measure and it turned out shorter than I wanted it to be. When I first was trying to finish knitting it I realized I did not enough yarn to finish the neckline of the front piece so I scrambled and was able to find through Ravelry a knitter that sold me a couple of skeins that they had left over (the yarn was not available anymore). Because of this I have left it at this length and will wear it as a tunic instead.

Yo planeaba usarlo como vestido pero algo pasó que me quedó mas corto de lo que quería. Cuando lo estaba terminando de tejer me dí cuenta que el hilo que me quedaba no iba a ser suficiente para terminar el cuello. Me puse a buscar en Ravelry y encontré a una muchacha a quien le habían sobrado unas bolas de este mismo hilo y se las compré (este hilo ya no lo hacen/venden)

I love the color and it is very cozy to wear.

Let's talk knitting

I need to get a handle on the number of projects which have been completed but need to be sewn together and blocked.

Should we start with the oldest? Why not

Interweave Knits magazine Square Bodice pullover. I started this in 2008 (wow!) and being my first lace project I struggled with it. The hard part was the shaping which complicates the lace pattern. Now having made some other projects that incorporated lace I was able to finish it.

 In May 2010 I started Meg by Louisa Harding which is an allover lace pattern. This one I put away for a while and I recently finished it. This gets priority so that I can wear this spring.

Next is the Phildar Cowl Neck dress which I started in January 2011. This is the second time I do not put it together in time for the season. I'm determined to sew it up this summer!

Last project I started was Phildar's mock turtleneck dress. I ran out of yarn and found in Ravelry another knitter who had extras of this yarn and was willing to sell it, so I was able to finish it.

What is on my needles now, a triangular shawl from the latest Vogue Knitting issue, number 13. I never knit shawls but this one really called to me. I think it will be beautiful as a summer scarf/shawl.

So there you have it! I hope next time I share knitting with you I will be wearing it! =)

New knitting projects

A few months ago I placed an order for knitting books from Phildar. They came from France at a wonderful price, I think they are probably from a few seasons ago but I loved their designs. This dress was picked first because I have had this yarn for many years; it was a closeout at a local yarn shop and I bought every one they had left. I love the pattern, I'm not loving working with the yarn, it is a boucle and the humps get stuck so you have to be careful not to create holes in your fabric. I do like how it looks and this is a dress I can see wearing often.

For this sock weight yarn I'm using the pattern the Selfish Seamstress posted for her Envy, Missoni inspired scarf. I'm not sure I like how this yarn looks with this pattern, I like the soft color changes of the Selfish Seamstress scarf better, so I'll let it sit for a while and keep working on the Phildar dress.

P.S; I saw the above scarf and I'm liking my scarf again

My youngest shared his cold with me and I haven't slept well in a few days. I have decided to wait on cutting Paco's pattern, since I have to cut single layer to mind the fabric pattern; don't want to do that with anything less than a clear head.
