Still working on Burda Style 4-2015 113A Culottes

I am thankful that I am stubborn because otherwise these culottes would have been abandoned long ago. I can truly say that this is the first time a Burda pattern does not look like advertised.

Doy gracias que soy cabezona pues si no estos "culottes" se hubieran quedado sin terminar. Es la primera vez que un patrón de Burda no me queda como las fotos/dibujos indican.



First let's take a look at the picture below. I would say that the waistband is a shaped waistband and the the legs have volume but that it is not excessive.

Primero vamos a mirar bien a la foto. Yo diría mirando a la banda para la cintura que tiene forma para que quede pegadita al cuerpo y que termina en la misma cintura. También diría que las patas tienen volumen pero no excesivo.

The reality is that the waistband is cut like a rectangle (the dimensions are given) and therefore it will not fit as in the picture, where it seems the top of the band is at the waist. The band starts at the waist and goes up for about 1.5 in -2 in, so this is a high waisted garment.

La realidad es que la banda de la cintura se corta de forma rectángulo con las medidas dadas y por lo tanto nunca va a quedar como la foto. El empezar de la banda cae en la cintura y de ahí sube unas 5 cm más o menos.



I did make a larger size at waist and hip based on the measurements but had to take all the extra out and then some. Can I tell you how much fun is to fit when there are pockets in the side seams? Yeap, not fun. I also took width out from the legs on the inside seams.

Yo empezé con una talla más grande que la que corto usualmente (42) pues mi cintura ha ensanchado gracias a mi edad :-( Bueno, tuve que quitar lo extra que había agregado más un poco más. ¿Quieren saber lo divertido que es arreglar las costuras de los lado cuando hay bolsillos? Mejor no... También tuve que quitarle ancho a las piernas por las costuras interiores.



I'm now finishing the hem and I will show you the finish product even though I'm planning on making a top to go with it, but I have other things I can wear with it for now.

Ahora estoy terminando el dobladillo y después les enseño como quedó aunque tengo planes para una blusa. Por ahora puedo encontrar otra cosa que ponerme para modelar.
